    Was thinking of this

    and maybe one of these

Im interested in this topic also. I think it was mentioned before and it was said moto X gear is not suited to road travel. Tis too warm for even the lightest of textiles for me at the mo

Today was shirt sleeves, combat pants and open face helmet ~ I threw caution to the wind, it was lovely :)

I have the RST adventure 2 jacket, does me grand with a fleece on under it in the winter, and the last week or so I've just opened the zipped mesh panels on the front and it's been grand. Adventure gear ain't everyone's cup of tea but this ticks the boxes for me.

Thats why I have been so slow to get a set, wear them for 4 days a year and the rest of the time they sit in the closet looking unhappy.

I used to wear a long sleeve T-shirt and a MX exoskeleton, looked a bit weird but kept me nice and cool.

Trick is to get a base layer that is breathable, most people stick on a cotton layer (which can hold 3 times its own weight in liquid, not Ideal) under armour and addidas do very good tops and breathable bottoms. Then you can wear you normal back protector etc and be cool .....

    Either that or ride FASTER!

I bought thermal underwear from a German company (it's pricey but keeps me coolish under my textiles):

    https://www.moto-akut.de/a-3187/stadler-all-season-hose-lang?category=29&filter=hersteller:stadler

However I am still sweating under the helmet like a pig in stop and go traffic....)
    Took the bicycle instead todaybiggrin.png

Yesterday afternoon I saw a few ladies on Vespas only wearing flip flops (or even high heels), summer dresses and no protection apart from an open face helmeteek.png
There must be this notion that scooters are safer than motorbikes and gear is not needed....

Any of the KNOX protectors are really good. I have both the ageis and the other one (can't think name now) either of them and you sorted look them up on Knox.

Its like the Kreiga gear skill, best of the best but lasts forever. Had my 1st back protector 3 yrs and its still like new. Bought the new one in NEC last year and its brilliant.

I see it as an investment, lads dont think twice about dropping 200 euro on fancy levers and bar ends and stupid stickers, but shudder at buying protective gear thats well worth the money.

This is the one I have now, have the ageis as back up. I also have the Anddroid gloves and they are brilliant also.

Each to his own mate..i have fancy levers, bar ends and some stickers...because i wanted them...never bought a back protector that wasnt already in the leathers i bought....I never preach to guys about what they should or shouldnt buy..its really none of my business....;)

Got 4 kriega bits'n'pieces, the handiest one is the over shoulder one, you can fit an ipad/10"tablet into it. That knox protector looks top notch, have this one myself

    Link

For the amount of use, light armor would actually get, I could only justify a max of £100, tops and bottoms. (and thats pushing out the boat)

I aint getting into all this again m8 and I wasnt saying people should wear back protectors I couldnt give a rats ass what people do or wear or ride. I was asked directly about them (back protectors) and I gave a direct answer. I aint preaching to the masses...and TBH I think you know that.

As you say each to their own, but I was saying that I have had people mock me for wearing them or think they are over the top and too expensive when they drop money on frivolous things to look good to others and skimp on protection.

And for the record I too have stubby levers and bar ends some I bought and some on the bike when I got it. But I make sure I have the best protection I can afford 1st.

    For sure.

And sure we have someone here who harps on about cruisers, chaps (I've never even seen a pair) and leather waistcoats.

Personally I bike on the cheap, I always have done.

When I started in '85 I hadn't a pot to piss in, then I was on an army wage from then through the 90's, starting a family, mortage etc & still hadn't a pot to piss in.

Now I've a few more quid, but I still wear a jacket I bought over 25yrs ago. I wear a pair of Aldi's textile pants and only recently bought my first proper pair of motorbike boots ~ prior to this I wore only army boots (the army boots are better btw).

Oh, and I wear a leather waistcoat :p

I couldn't give a toss what people wear.. If someone like Wonda feels better spending a small fortune on his personal protection its not for me to say he's wrong (personally I think he's bloody right).

This week I wore shirt sleeves, combat pants, boots and an open face helmet ~ probably every biker who passed me on the M50 and about the northside probably thought I was an asshole.. But I'm not from a time when personal protection was taken as seriously as it is now.

Riding the way I enjoy, and how I'm comfortable is me ~ and feck the begrudgers :p

Oh, my summer gloves are Aldi's and very comfy (about five years old) and my winter gloves are old army issue Frank Thomas which are about 15 years old.

Oh, I draw the line at shorts!.. But there's a little honey who travels pillion on the N2 wearing a little black mini & black tights every morning ~ woman you make my morning <3

Guys, I got my robocop gear delivered to parcel motel this morning, and collected it on the way into work, so, as you do, got a workmate to check the arm armor for resistance, dickhed caught me on the mesh part of the torso with a size 16,(you cant even buy them in shops for normal people :0 )
Guts of the matter is, I like em, and for some reason amazon sent me out a spare pare of the trousers(well mesh pants with armor) which come in at 40stg, which with parcel motel delivery comes in at about 50.
If any one wants them and is of slim build (32 inch waist and about 5 10 in height you can have them for €35.
    I'll post a photo, if I can tomorrow :)

Itss not the lack of confidence I have in myself that I wear as much good protection as I can afford, it's other road users that scare the **** outta me. TBH I don't spend a small fortune on gear but I try to upgrade each year or when the item needs replacing. I don't drink (rarely) or smoke so paying 160 for a high end back protector makes sense to me, people spend that a night the weekend pissing it up against the urinal (each to their own btw).

Kudos to you if you ride around o natural so to speak, it's just not for moi

Took the thermal linings out of my old Hein Gerrick textile gear, been perfect commuting in Tenerife for the last six months. Previously used the same gear, with the linings for commuting in Irish winter
