    Howdy folks.

Is this TV worth buying http://bit.ly/2a4GLEo

Id appreciate any advice as I have an old telly for the last 10 years and have the chance to buy a brand new one. That Hitachi looks good but I don't know if it is really a ball of sh*te.

    Many thanks

Tried to find this on Amazon UK to see customer reviews but they don't seem to be selling it. One or two basic points from a personal perspective:

    (1) Ultra HD at present is very limited (Netflix/Amazon) with Sky hoping to launch in time for PL season in August so while this TV will future proof you I'm not sure that I would purchase an Ultra HD TV quite yet unless you subscribe to Sky Sports or are a subscriber to Amazon/Nexflix movies. BTW AFAIK you'll need to purchase Sky Q to get Ultra HD via Sky but someone can correct me if I'm mistaken.
    (2) Price certainly seems very reasonable and Hitachi like Sony/Panasonic/Samsung have a good reputation.

    Hope this helps.

AFAIK Hitachi stopped making TV's themselves in 2012.

These are made by Vestel in Turkey.

Sorry I didn't know that. Does this make them less reliable than other makes I have mentioned?

That would be correct. I saw a Hitachi TV last week and the UI looked identical to the Walker TVs, which we know are Vestel-based.

Thanks folks, so would it be worth buying? Personally don't care for the smart features on it, looking more for a really good screen with a few connections like HDMI etc.

When looking at the hitachi its nearly half the price and the bargain hunter in me was get it!

So would people buy based on that price point?

Power City have a Samsung 48inch or an LG 49inch for €500.

I would say either of those would be better value, particularly the Samsung.
