Hoping I can find some help, going into 3rd year and wanna make the best module choices, sociology really seems to be my strongest subject and although my geography is alright, I do seem to perform better with certain lecturers, was hoping anyone that has just graduated can help me out please!!

    Hiya Jen!

I just finished 3rd year Geography. Any of Adrian Kavanagh's modules are easy to get a high mark but there's a good bit of C.A. work involved, although I heard that he was asked to reduce the amount of C.A. assignments for next year.

Geopolitics was a really interesting module, and Gerry Kearns was a great lecturer, but it covers so much ground that there's a lot to try and study for. It covers the intersections between law, sociology, politics and geography so you might have an advantage having done sociology already.

I really enjoyed the Remote Sensing and G.I.S. modules as well. Remote Sensing covers a lot of ground as well so hard to know what to study for the exams but if you like the area of study you'll enjoy it. The final project for G.I.S. was tricky enough as you're on your own to figure it out but everyone in the class is in the same boat so helping each other out goes a long way and G.I.S. gives you some practical hands on experience with software that is widely used by many companies.

Other than that I did the Geog. of the Informational Economy module which I enjoyed as well. It covers some theory by the sociologist Manuel Castells so that might be interesting for you too.

I know a few that were in the Glacial Geomorphology module and found it quite demanding and difficult but they found it interesting.

If you're looking for an easy module, I heard that the Foodscapes module with Alistair Fraiser? was handy.

If you want more specific info. on any of them just let me know.
