My friend just got her wedding dress altered in the zip yard in maynooth. She's happy with it although its expensive.
My dress shop recommends zipyard too although I will try find a dressmaker closer to the time

I am honestly amazed that anyone would recommend the zipyard for alterations. I have never heard good things about them, and my only experience of them was when they tried to charge me €30 for extremely minor alterations to a dress.

I would always recommend a seamstress who specialises in wedding gowns, and who can provide proof or testimonials. I wouldn't be letting the dubious promise of a discount influence me in a situation like that.

Ingrid is the seamstress at the Diamond Needle Studio

She's amazing! She does the alterations for the shop I got my dress in (Ciara Rose Bridal) and also the alterations for the White Room in Mullingar

Mine just needed to have the length adjusted and get taken in so probably not that complicated but she was so fussy about making sure it was perfect. I was happy to take it the week before the wedding but she didn't think it was quite right so asked to take it back and I collected it again two days later

    Couldn't recommend her more

    Good luck!

My friend used All Alterations at Whiteswan and they were amazing. I went with her too all her fittings and to pick up the dress before the wedding and they could not have been nicer or more accomodating/helpful. There were no issues at all with the work done on the dress. They also took in the grooms trousers with a turn around time of a couple of hours so my friend could pick them up at one of the fittings and on the morning of the wedding the groom called to see if they could press his suit (they live locally) and it was no problem at all.

They also recently fixed a button on the waistcoat of my partners suit and didn't charge him for it. Could not recommend them enough!

Do NOT go with the zipyard. I had an expensive dress altered badly by them recently :(

    All alterations come recommended.
