Hi all. I'm due to fly to Rome with my husband from Dublin in August and return a week later. However I'm unable to go due to a medical reason. Does anyone know what my options are? My consultant will write a letter if needed.

I should mention the flights cost near €1000.

Claim on your travel insurance. Ryanair couldn't care less unless it's the death of a passenger or immediate family, then they require a death certificate to be uploaded.

This is not true, Ryanair have become much more receptive in these situations.

I've had two family members who had to cancel family holidays this year due to illness, one received a full refund and the other got vouchers for future use.
