How to attach joist hangers to a wall

    The guy at my DIY store wasn't sure about this. I purchased These joist hangers (see pic 1) and the holes are kind of small so the guy recommended these masonry nails with washers (see pic 2). Do you think these nails would be alright or is it better using some kind of screw to fix them to the wall. The wall is a normal brick wall and the joist hangers will be holding up 2 X 2 wooden studs so not all that heavy but would like it to be sturdy.

    Steel nails are perfectly adequate as pulling force will be 90° to the angle of the nail.

    Do you just nail those right into the wall? Won't they bend? also, one more question please: I found this tutorial and it says:

    A concrete screw is the simplest fastener available for the job.

    Do you think there is any benifit to using one of these or is it really just a matter of preference?
