    Hey guys

I'm trying to find the best place to locate a mobile dongle + antenna combo

I followed this for my old 3G dongle but the same setup doesn't work for the modern 4G Huwaei modems

    http://niranjanthilak.com/measuring-signal-quality-of-evdo-3g-network-from-usb-
    modems/

Has anyone managed to find a way of showing the "real" signal strength and not just the "green bars" on the router home status page ?

On my Huawei B593s-22 router, the signal strength readings can be accessed by going into 'System' in the top menu, then 'Diagnoses' on the left menu and ticking 'Wireless status check'.

On some Huawei dongles, the raw signal readings can be accessed by first logging into the dongle's GUI page and then going directly to the URL (replacing 'x.x.x.x' with your dongle IP): URL http://x.x.x.x/api/device/signal

If the page loads up blank, view the page source and you should see a tag with the dBm reading like '<rsrp>-102dBm</rsrp>'.
