    Hi all,

Myself and my wife are heading to Koh Samui Aug 03-18. It's supposed to be one of the best times to visit weather wise but I just checked several forecasts and they all have cloudy and thunderstorms for the entire duration of our holiday.

Has anyone been in August before with a similar weather outlook? Accu weather is generally pretty spot on and it's showing thunderstorms the entire time.

I was there that time last year. It tended to be fairly sunny in the mornings, overcast from noon onwards and then a few showers in late afternoon. I think that's fairly typical

Damn ha! Thought I chose a good period for sunny weather.

AccuWeather are very bad at accuracy. Every day in Turkey it forecasted clouds and thunderstorms and there wasn't a cloud to be seen for the entire holiday.

    Where did you search?

    Where did you search?

Started with General Koh Samui August weather Google searches, then asked a few friends, then the travel agent. It's not a bother really. I don't exactly tan ha.

You were very poorly advised! That said, you could be lucky and the rain could come at night or you could get a dry week. I remember swimming in the rain there years ago so there's that option!

I came back from koh Samui on Friday. When I was there I found that the mornings up until lunchtime was when there was a fairly good chance of sun. From lunchtime onwards it tended to get more overcast
What you would be wise to do is keep an eye out for dark clouds and I you feel the wind getting up suddenly you have only a couple of mins before the monsoon rains start.
That said it's alot more pleasant than being out in the rain here and my favourite memory from our holiday is kayaking in the sea in a warm torrential downpour.
The weather might be different by the time you're there but either way unless you want constant blasting sun I wouldn't worry about it

I'm also going there in August and I've been keeping an eye on the weather too. If you look at TripAdvisor forums it says that August is a great time to go. Hopefully it will be ok!

Honestly it was fine last August, yes it could get a bit overcast and showery but it didn't cause us any problems!
