Nobody likes me at work. Career advice please!

I have been at my current job for 3.5 years. Frankly things have gone from bad to worse..

When I first joined I admittedly made mistakes. I was a big headed 21 year old and was rude to a couple of colleagues, who were most definitely the WRONG people to get on the bad side of. Also being an attractive girl I liked the attention from guys which didn't go down well with the other girls. Being the most popular people in the company they badmouthed me and turned EVERYONE against me. I soon became pretty unpopular.

Anyhow, I massively changed my ways (and have done since) and stayed in the hope things would breeze over in time. I also needed to stay because I needed a promotion on my CV. Anyhow the alpha male of the guys got to know me and realised I wasn't a bitch and protected me for a few years, so things marginally improved.
Since he left things have got progressively worse, and the two people I was originally rude to have been unforgiving and hostile to say the least. Because i'm known as the girl who nobody likes all my colleagues have treated me like **** (throwing dirty looks etc.) and justify it by saying 'nobody likes her'. I made friends with new people that come into the company but they tell them to 'avoid' me and 'not go out for lunch with me because nobody likes me'. They go round telling EVERYONE that 'nobody likes me' so i'm now known in the industry as somebody who 'nobody likes'.

As it's a relatively small relationships focused industry I feel as though i'm screwed because having this reputation is going to massively jeopardise my chances of getting another job and I don't think i'll ever be able to shift this rep.
I'm wondering whether to report a few colleagues in particular as bullies (they have done some vicious things to me other than that mentioned) and have a fresh start in a new industry (and accepting a pay cut) or whether to persevere because I do like my job in the hope i'll find a position and fit in somewhere else. I have also done a lot of tough professional exams for this career.

Boy have I learnt a hard lesson!!!

I'm at a huge loose end and really would appreciate any advice offered.

    Thanks in advance!

Eh work is not about being liked/disliked, bitches and alpha males! Looks like your first job skewed your attitude... it's not a social club or popularity contest. Change employers and focus on the professional side now.

There must be a new alpha male since the other left. Look for the man beating his chest and urinating in the corners. You need to either ride him or kill him.
    Good luck.

"I'm an attractive girl", "The alpha of the group protected me" it's like something a submissive male would say. :s

Or ride him and then kill him. But not the other way round. That would be weird.
