Hi, I'm just after purchasing my first property and I'm a little bit ignorant regarding the whole insurance side of things, the only insurance I've ever had was for my phone.

Just wondering what I should be looking out for when contacting the insurance companies and what types of insurance i should be looking to get, decent insurance companies i should shop around with and how much I should be realistically be looking to pay?

    Relevant information

    - 29 years of age
    - cash buyer
    - appartment bought for €175k in Crumlin
    - built in 1990's
    - 2 bed appartment
    - Ground floor
    - Person moving into spare room

Your management fee will cover the building, you need to get contents insurance,

Check if you can get accidental damage cover on the contents.

I suppose that another person moving in to the spare room is a tenant. If so, might be worth declaring that for completeness i.e. a material fact.

One thing I don't know about for apartments is the insurance for fixtures and fittings like built in wardrobes. Anyone ?

I don't know either but I expect that F&F will be covered in a contents policy when you declare that the premises is an apartment. What is and is not covered will be explained in the policy document.
