    Hi all,

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this sort of thread. I'm looking to install windows 7 on a PC and was wondering where a good place to get it would be?

I'm not sure if official installation CDs are even sold anymore, so I'm guessing a valid activation key from somewhere would have to do? I found this on the Microsoft website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7

I was wondering if that method would work provided I get a valid key? And where would the best place be to obtain Windows 7?

    Thanks in advance.

You can't buy it anymore & it's not supported, either.

    Get Windows 10.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Thanks for the response! It's a shame I can't buy it legit anymore, bit surprised to see Windows 8 is more or less the same as well.

I'll be going for Windows 10 now. Thanks for the help! :)

Sorry, not trying to hijack but can I get peoples opinion please ?

Legitimizing my copy of windows this week

Is it better to activate Win7 then upgrade to Win10 ?

Or buy a Brand new Win10 key and do a clean install ?

I've always been a fan of clean installs. Something about a fresh start, no old files, no old drivers etc that just makes pure sense to me.

You can do both, upgrade to Windows 10 using your existing windows 7 installation. Then once your copy of windows 10 has activated you can do a fresh clean install of windows 10 and it will automatically activate. However If you have your Windows 7 key you can just do a clean install of Windows 10 from the installation media from their website and use your 7 key to activate it.
