Looking for a nice resort in Spain close to either malaga or alicante airport if anyone has any suggestions ?

At least a 4 star and close to beach , I was nerja before found it great but would like to experience something different

It will be a relaxing holiday so a party town is not essential

    Thank you

    Hi Popsy,

Have you looked at Guardamar. It is about 30 minutes south of Alicante airport. I've been there once and it has a nice spanish feel to it and would definitely be a relaxing place.

This is a 4 star hotel on the beachfront.

You might find out more about the location & the hotel on TripAdvisor.

I also like the town of Elche and would recommend it for a visit. It is inland and very close to Alicante aiprot. The old town is nice. My wife and I have stayed there a few times and love the local Spanish feel of the place. There are some great restaurants too.

    Happy travels,
    JT.

I would second Guardamar. The beach is beautiful and there are lots of restaurants and bars and a local market.

    Hi Popsy,

I think that you could book all of this yourself. Both Aer Lingus & Ryanair fly there, so you can book the flights on-line.

You could also book the hotel yourself. I compared the prices on the hotels website to those on the likes of Trivago.com and the prices on the hotels own site are better. This link is just a sample for Saturday 13th of August for one week. You can change the dates to suit.

    https://www.centrotel.es/newCRSUI2/booking/itemsSelection.aspx?CRSName=HotelMeridional&idLanguage=en-GB&idEstablishmentSRT=1&idPT=3,7,12,11,20&start=13/08/2016&end=20/08/2016

And finally you will just need a transfer from the airport to the hotel. I would think that a 4-star hotel would organise this for you. So they would send a driver to collect you. At least you will then know the price up-front. If it is too high, there are other car transfer services out there.

Looking forward to hearing if it all works out for you.

    Happy travels,
    JT.

Going back again this year, 4 star, 15mins from Malaga Airport. Make sure to look for sea view.

I stayed there as a kid. I'm not sure I would recommend it for a relaxing holiday minus children though. Benalmadena is a tourist trap really. Also it's up quite a steep hill so if you are with an elderly person it may not suit.

Apologies missed the OP stating all those constraints.

Malaga itself is lovely . It has a lot going for it and the beach area is very nice.
Then Estepona which is about 1 hour from Malaga and there is very frequent buses from Malaga.
If looking at Estepona make sure you stay in old town area as the rest is very spread out .
Estepona has a nice Spanish feel.

After calling into the travel agents i am a bit restricted with flights as I want to go the Tuesday after the wedding (friday )

Getting a good deal for lanzarote for a week or 9 days and the princess yaiza 5 star in a suite

Looks great online but I don't want to be going over and being kept awake by music and party's going on until all hours in the morning I'm looking for luxury and relaxation

It's hard to get good reviews on trip advisor as every hotel I look at is " best hotel I ever stayed in "

    Anyone ever been ???

The Costa del sol can still be done it's just a bit more awkward and expensive but the travel agent said numerous times wouldn't recommend it the place be claiming down then things could be closed etc

Is there a particular reason why you want to go through a travel agent?

You're restricting yourself more that way and will likely end up paying more than if you booked the flights & accommodation directly yourself.

Just easier really and less hassle I don't have time to be messing around booking everything with the wedding so close I'm always busy

Don't mind paying a bit extra once everything is sorted

I have several friends who have been there but mainly in winter. They are all quite fuzzy and go to lots of fancy hotels. They all really loved it and had no complaints.

My friend in work goes to Princess Yaiza a every year. He has kids though and loves the kids club. He saw it's expensive but worth it for what you get (if that makes sense)
