can I use a diplexer to combine a roof aerial and satellite feed that passes through an 8 way amplifier or will I need to split it again before it enters the said amplifier. Hope I'm making sense here.:confused:

An ordinary UHF or UHF/VHF amplifier is no use for distributing satellite signals.

How many TV points do you want to feed the satellite signal to?

A satellite feed at each TV point requires a direct connection to an output on the LNB, it cannot pass-through the distribution amplifier nor can a single sat feed from the dish be split to 2 sat TV points.

If you want to feed 2 TV points with a sat feed combine each sat feed with the terrestrial signal after the amplifier

So Really I need to change the single lnb to a multiple one, run a new shotgun cable from the lnb and meet the 2 terrestrial signals after they pass through the amplifier.

Yes, another option for this kind of setup is a multiswitch which takes satellite signals from the dish and combines them with a terrestrial aerial feed out each output for splitting at the TV point.

This option would require a Quattro LNB (different from a standard single, quad or octo LNB) at the dish and 4 feeds from it to the multiswitch. The multiswitch can feed multiple points with sat and terrestrial feeds this way.

    Yes, that should work.

You will require the correct LNB for the dish you have, a Sky dish LNB or Universal dish LNB.

OK thanks for that. It's a sky dish . I have a quad lnb that will fit it.:)

I'll post here rather than start a new thread.
I'm looking to do simular to whats in urbanfrets last pic except its a freeview saorview aerials combined with a masthead amp on the freeview aerial.
Does the masthead amp work with the switch or will it affect the signal?
Only looking to do one room.

Same as above - the combined feed from the two aerials can be treated as one aerial feed and then combined, as above, with a satellite feed.

So the aerials being powered by the amp/distributor has no negative affect on the switch?

No, because you combine after the power source (after the outputs of the distribution amp in this case, no dc power in that direction, only upwards to the masthead amp) that feeds the masthead amp, allowing the satellite receiver to power the lnb as normal, whilst blocking any power (13 & 18v) going in the direction of the aerial so to speak. These combiners/splitters are just that, not switches, with only a DC pass on the satellite leg of the unit.

Ok thanks that explains it well, I'll connect them up so .
    Much appreciated.
