Odd situation getting college house deposit back

Hi folks,

Maybe it's not weird, but I'm half suspicious of the agency we were renting off in Waterford (WIT) last year. We rented per room and were staying in Templars Hall - You may be able to guess the agency. I'm fairly cynical so maybe it's just me, but the below stinks, as our lease was up on May 30th, but all moved out May 11th (with keys etc. given back). I'm just thinking they are waiting for the next batch of students to pay up their deposits and can then give them out - Rince and repeat yearly then.


Received 8th July:



I received the below on 27th June which didn't say anything about potential delays or anything. Like I said, I'm probably being far too cynical but I dunno!



Should I be annoyed with this (€400)? Two months since moving out..Month and a half since the lease was up.

What are you looking for OP? To say you should be annoyed. I've no idea what the standard is for returning deposits on college dorms.

The RTA laws don't apply in this situation so o can't judge against the normal laws.

Ya, I'm just looking for confirmation that I have a right to be annoyed really - From an accommodation perspective I would've just thought it's fairly lackadaisical and disrespectful by the agency and at least a reason for me to not recommend them to others I know that are going to get a house there, especially when I paid up on time every month etc.

I think it suits being here more than the WIT forum in fairness.

These spoofers have still given no correspondence for the deposit return. Dunno why, but it's ridiculously irritating. I'd imagine a lot of students would be wanting the deposit back to pay for their house for the next academic year.
