Looking to erect a basic cattle crush and wondering what the cost of it would be? Thank you.

Spotted this on donedeal. I put one here a couple of years ago. Basic skulling gate 20ft long but I got the posts with the holes in posts.

Would a mobile crush meet department specifications or does it have to be a fixed one?

That says a lot more than what it costs for a crush

Are you still using it ? What would the price of a calf/bullock be that time

I want tge modern day cost not from 26 years ago because like everything else in this world I'm sure the prices if them have shot up due to all the new mod cons!

Put 1 in a few year ago 2 columns long, had the front and back gate from the old crush. 4inch pipe for the uprights, 2inch for the the bars. Cost about 700 for materials and did it all myself. All heavy pipe so expect it to last. But it was a lot of work!

Buddy near put in one the very similar as the one on link, have to very impressed by it and not half the work. Probably have it done for 900 all in if you do the labour yourself.

Yeah, still using it. It only cost the price of the gravel and bolts, I got the pipes from the sugar factory for €5 and cement from Cork Mallow road as my brother was working there and they had it left over. The gate was off the old crush. I'd say you'd have got 7-800 pounds for a finished bullock back then, calves, I remember getting around 70-80 for a fr bull and 300 for a ch bull.

Measure the size of the crush and materials you need then go to local steel stockholders and get prices.

I see plenty of prices on DD , there is one in Galway for €595 supply only .Would you be fit to build it yourself ? The price after that depends on how finished you want it and what preparation is needed .
Renandstimpy has a good thread about a pen he built the might give you ideas aswell , I think he had costs in iy aswell

That's the one in the picture I posted above. Dig A few holes in correct positions. And a few wheel barrows of concrete. Put up the one in our yard in less than half a day.

If I were building a crush again I would build one with removable gates or swinging gates between the posts, that way if an animal went down they could get out easily.

You can do the same with welded on rings and the round hollow bars sliding in them. Drop a pin down through a hole at the top near the crush gate. Lift pin and slide bars back, that's what I've done on all my crushes.

I have done that on mine too but bars will only slide back far enough for the first cow is crush. If she lands in the middle or back she will have to be dragged up to the front.

Put in one of these last year, fully galvanised, about 25ft long, with a backing gate, cost about 800e.
