I've asked about this already in All Things Retro and none the wiser so I'll try here.Does anyone old enough to remember recall a cartoon shown on RTE circa 1979-80 ish about a concert pianist who used to enter his piano into another world and have adventures? Each episode was short, maybe 10 minutes or so and there was no dialogue.I've a feeling it might have been European. The main character had a beard and glasses and each episode started with him walking onto a stage and sitting down to play the piano. Then steps or something would come out of the piano and he'd walk up them and find himself in another world.

Oh and BTW it was not Mr Benn though I'd say it was almost certainly inspired by it.

Edit:Nor was it Sparkys Magic Piano.

I don't think I remember it but something doest seem familiar and I'm sorry I can't really help overall. In the 70's and early 80's though RTE did show a lot of eastern European animations which were quite short. One I do remember was Jeremy who was a teddy bear. Maybe try searching for eastern European shows that match your description. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

No probs. This was a series, can't say for sure how many episodes as I can only clearly remember one.In it the pianist entered a kind of Arabian Nights type adventure. The protagonist was a giant sized genie. The pianist in it got hold of something belonging to the genie and was magicaly making all gold and riches appear. He also made an open top sports car appear and is speeding off in it with all the gold etc loaded into the back. The genie pursues him by flying through the air and theres a POV shot of the pianist speeding down a road in the car.The genie shoots something from his finger and the car and jewels disappear,he catches up with the pianist and threateningly points his finger at his nose.At that point pianist is back in the real world and the adventure is over,it always ended like that. When hes in danger hes back safely in reality.
