Hi folks, looking for feedback on these jeeps. Would need to be 4wd, 140bhp.
There are a few about in the €10-12k range

Anyone got one and what's the feedback, what's the MPG like ??

    Anything else worth knowing.

Looking seriously for a replacement for my 06 Xtrail but finding it hard to see which way to turn.

Not as nice and more utilitarian but a Yeti might be worth adding to the list.

Miles/price are a bit high on this one maybe but something along the lines of it maybe?

Yes, Yeti is just in there with towing capacity 4WD 2.0 versions only. I presume the Yeti would return better MPG than the Kuga or Tiguan.. Kinda like the funky look of the Yeti :o - probably a real love 'em or hate 'em styling to them.

Subaru XV? Again, not as refined inside but the ride is great, very comfortable, permanent AWD, 2l daysul is very economical but tons of torque (way more than I expected) and thy're a bit unusual to see on the road too. Apart from the small town I live in where there are 2 others I see regularly!

Beaut of a machine but worries over the diesel boxer engine is putting me off considering one at the moment, was very interested but too many scare stories out there for me..

Mrs Bob has a Kuga. Decent car, to be honest they are definitely a car, not any kind of comparison to a proper 4x4, but well able to tow, and very comfortable. Good power from the 2 litre too. Titanium spec is a must, as the zetecs we looked at were poorly equipped. Mpg is OK, around 40 or so. We went for it because the Tiguan was a bit bland, and much more expensive.

On the downside the boot is very small, and I'm not totally convinced by the push button start unit, it's a but finicky on ours.

Any of these soft roaders with a heavier 4wd drivetrain will suffer from poorer mpg than the 2wd versions.

Yea but having the heavier setup and 4wd traction increases their towing capacity.

What will you be towing with it? The old X-Trail would probably be a little bit more rugged than the likes of a Kuga or Tiguan, depending on what you are towing of course.

Needs to be comfortable to tow a 1450kg 8meter caravan.

Do bring the xtrail in the fields a bit but that's not needed as tractor would do fine for that.

I'd say either will be fine with the caravan but more suited to a supermarket carpark than a muddy field.

I don't know much about them but maybe the Mitsubishi Outlander may be worth considering here too? they were similar money to the Kuga or Tiguan new and a bigger machine.

Outlander is an option but scarse enough with the €12k budget, and that's the stretched budget :(

Interested in this thread myself Brian. Was talking to a man recently with a 2012 kugu company car with 212K on the clock.(Does some offload too). Was very happy with it. Said the company started to replace these with outlanders over the last couple of years and there were a lot of issues with them. They are putting pressure on him to take a new outlander but he is resisting in the hope that they will see sense and go back to the kugu again.

Test drove a Skoda Octavia Scout today. 140bhp 4wd estate Octavia.

Very impressed, firm and handled well.

    Another contender.

Anyone here with the 2.0tdi 140 Tiguan, have a deal near done on an 09 , six months warrenty, milage under 100k miles, full VW service history.

So I'm guessing 40mpg would be typical given its 4wd ??
