    Hi,

This might be better suited to the building forum but anyone have any recommendations of suppliers of very good quality wooden 12ft farm gates?

I have come seen a couple at shows etc but the quality seemed very poor to be honest

I got really good quality timber farm gates, regular driveway gates along with post and rail fencing from Standish Sawmills in Offaly (delivered to Cork). Only have them around 2 years or so but very happy with them so far anyway.

Thanks for that, turns out I think someone else mentioned them too! How did you find them price wise?

Pretty reasonable - not the cheapest around but with these kind of things you pay for decent quality

I bought 3 lately. I looked at plenty, there's a lot of rubbish out there. I went with CJ Sheerin in Laois.
They're all around the same money but I found Sheerin the best to deal with for cash.
Get a heavy bottom bar on it, it's a far better job, looks better and is stronger.
I'm sure you know too that a single 12' gate will require an ope of 12'5".

Thanks for that. My post and rail is going up shortly and while there is no panic on the gates, may as well hang them at the same time

I got a set of garage doors of standish sawmills last year and i was disappointed with the them nice enough crowd to deal with money wise but dont think id deal with them again saying that i got field gate off them few years ago and i was delighted with it
They could be hot or cold so i guess..

I hung my gates off Sleepers. I bought them locally for 25 quid each. I picked out good clean straight ones and they look great with the gates hung off them. I creosoted the whole lot, gates posts rails and sleepers. It's a good job now.
