    Good morning,

    Just a quick one. Do you need to keep suppliers statements?
    Invoices, credit notes etc obviously need to be kept but I don't think I have a need to file statements, would I be correct?

    They're proof of a debt at any given time (particularly the year-end, when they're needed for audit/accounts prep) and of payments, so yes, they would need to be kept.

    You would need to keep ones around the year end for audit purposes.

    Are most statements not in electronic form now?

    Most that I get are not.

    Leads to me my next question, invoices etc I need to keep in the original form (correct?). Is there anything stopping me storing statements electronically?

    I don't think there's a specific requirement to keep invoices in one form or another (paper/electronic).

    Certainly if a statement comes in by e-mail, I don't see any problem just saving it to a folder. Though I would tend to print it anyway as I find one folder of invoices/statements you can flick through is easier to access than folders on a computer (I'm probably old-fashioned that way...!)
