    Hi All,

I have one tractor that I'd like to get resprayed to hopefully add a few more years of life to it. Some minor touch-ups to panels etc required but nothing serious and no big amount of rust yet.

Does anyone know of anyone doing this sort of work in the Tipperary area?

    Thanks in advance...

No panic, but it is my feeding tractor for the winter so would need it done before mid october. If you want to ask him then pm me his number that would be great

Hi my brother in law said he wouldnt have time to do that spraying at the moment so no luck there. you could try Jim or Kieran in Mullinahone tractor parts.

You could do it yourself with car paint? (IMO - It'd be good enough for a working vehicle)

I was thinking that alright. Have done small bits in the past like wheel rims with the compressor at home. I'd be afraid of making a b#lls of it and the paint stripping a few months down the line tbh.

The sparex paint seems to match the colours easy enough and would be easy enough to spray on. Still unsure I have the time and ability to do a half decent job on it though.

The time is more the issue. Working full time (12 hrs/day, part time farming (weekends), a 19 month old toddler at home and another bun in the oven!!!

Need to keep the work/life balance in check!

You are dead right. I was involved in vintage a good bit and restored a few tractors. It takes a lot of time. Are the panels plastic as these can be trickier to get the paint to stick and stay stuck. Maybe throw up a pic for us to see. What make is it. I used to sandblast the panels before painting and it's a great job. Come to think of it the lads in campill sandblast and paint. I could prob get a number. It all depends on what you want done and how much you want to spend😳. What part of tipp are you in.

is there a bodyshop near you that would do the panels for you.?we do alot of them here but a bit far from you.if the wheels are rusty def get them blasted, even with the best of intentions a wire brush grinder will never completely remove it. an unpainted tractor looks better than a poorly painted one (not sayin you wouldn't do a good job but if your caught for time that one thing you'd def need)

Welton your suggestion seems a good half way house. Get the panels off and get a professional to paint them.

Take off wheels. Take out centres and get them blasted and painted. You may be surprised how rusted the bolts are and thry might need replacing.

The chassis would be the only thing you should attempt paint. Even at that you might get over spray on the panels or wheels.
