Whether they are worth in investing in is down to what scenarios it will be useful for you. I've a few friends who bought a smartwatch only to realise after that they don't use any of the features so quickly sold them on/returned them.

They are an expensive toy, nothing more.

Do I use mine? Extensively. Do I love it? Absolutely. Is it useful? Kinda. About the only real use is to ensure that I don't miss phonecalls, which I tend to when I have the phone on vibrate/silent.

I've got the Motorola 360 2nd Gen and it is widely regarded as one of the best out there, particularly in terms of actually looking like a real watch.

The bottom line is can you afford to throw the guts of 300 Euro on a toy?

The mistake people make is thinking of them as a new device. They are not that. They're a luxury accessory, you get a small bit of extra functionality for a significant amount of cash.

I love my M360 but its main function is to open electric gates and to prevent me taking my phone out every time one of the lads posts a joke in whatsapp. Thats the killer feature, reducing "alerting noise".

I had the first gen Moto 360, unfortunately the battery took a nosedive so I now use it as a handy bedside clock

Unless you want to read notifications on your wrist I would recommend something like a Mi-Band 2, you get the clock and buzzing for notifications so might be all you need, and cheaper !

Wouldn't agree, my Sony Smartwatch 3 has built in gps so i can use it to track my runs AND storage for music so with my bluetooth heads phones i have music while i run along with the other things.

    I'm awaiting the Sony 4 !

Google will be releasing a new one this year i believe (on their own) or heavily tied to them similar to nexus line.

So for me, id wait to see what that offering intails. Its bound to have the latest chipset orientated around smaller power saver devices like watches.

    Here's your excuse, https://m.johnlewis.com/motorola-moto-360-metal-smartwatch-android-wear-light-chrome-case-and-stainless-steel-band/p/1875313?searchTerm=Moto%20360
I would be lost without my first gen 360, since the last update I'm getting up at 6:15 and going to bed at 0.30 with 40% battery whereas before that update I was looking for my dock around 9pm.

You can have your phone in a car holder while driving and answer on your wrist,

Just glance down at your watch when a message comes through while driving instead of getting penalty points swiping your phone.

It has a flashlight for finding the keyhole at 3am,

It gives me my rugby and soccer scores instantly,

It navigates me around a new town out city without having my phone out in front of me like a tool,

It tracks my walks and sets goals,

I can search spotify with it and forward, pause and play any music player without taking my phone out,

    I get my weather updates,

I can control my android box,

    I can translate foreign languages,

I can get up my shopping list using bring,

Store all my loyalty card barcodes so I'm not rifling through my wallet,

Set alarms, timers, stopwatches and reminders,

And best of all, at any time say the magic words OK Google and ask it anything and boom the answer appears on your wrist.

I would be lost without it and if I had a spare £99 I would get another one as a backup.

This ^^^ I ummed and aaahed for ages about getting a fancy high end Android watch, but in the end got the basic original Pebble for about €80 I think. Does everything I want of it, alerting me to emails and messages, has a few handy apps like Next Dart and Dublin Bus that allows me to check things without having to take my phone out of my pocket. I get a week's use out of one charge, and a charge takes no time at all.

I don't know if this Promo still works or not but if you go to Motorola.co.uk and choose the 360 Sport, go to buy, then enter promo codes UKSPORT (£80 Off) & UKWELCOME10 (£10 Off) together you get the watch for £129 which at the time converted to €160.

I too was looking for an excuse to buy a smartwatch and really wanted a Moto 360 2nd gen so when I seen that offer I thought it would be a nice cheaper way to try out Android Wear and a Moto 360.

I only have the watch a week now but so far I find it good to have for notifications and fitness tracking, it's best use case for me is reminders, all your Google Calendar events pop up and then anything you asked "ok google" to remind you about shows up on the watch, as time goes on with having the watch I'd say it will become more useful when more apps start supporting Android Wear and the watch interface itself looks like it will get a lot better with Wear 2.0 coming along soon.

Overall I'd say if you can afford it then I'd recommend getting it as an expensive accessory but if buying this will leave you broke until your next pay day then it's probably not worth it to you and something like a Mi Band 2 will do a similar enough job for a fraction of the price.

    Hope this helps :)

I thought Motorola don't ship to Ireland and that you need a UK to order off their website?

Ye sorry forgot to mention that, I used Parcel Wizard and admittedly Motorola's site is horrible for entering the PW address because it has a character limit so I had to remove spaces between Trench Rd and Trench park.

The way I did it was:

    Company name:
    DPD Parcel Wizard
    Street Name:
    PW000000 TrenchRd
    Building name/number:
    Unit5 TrenchPark

Then enter the PW Zip code and it will auto fill the rest to newtownabbey for you.

That was the only way it would accept it but make sure you put your PW I.D in there.

Yes I tried that before ordering a phone but it keep refusing payment.

When I looked into it I was told I need a UK card. I ended up getting one of the lads in London to order for me.

Cheers for that, I actually really like the look of that also. The only thing putting me off is that I've heard it won't get the update to android wear 2.0.

Does anyone know what improvements are going to be included in the 2.0 update.
