Please have u bought from Sarsfield Motors lately? All I see here are old posts. I am eyeing a 5 Series 2008 BMW at less that 10K. Please any advise about BMW Series 520 D SE and the car seller will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

I bought a 2 year old Passat tdi from them in 2008 and had no problems whatsoever. The sales guy I dealt with was sound (mark). I'd one small job to be done under their 3 month warranty and it was done no problem. They seem to buy a lot of ex lease cars and most have full main dealer service history

Google bmw timing chain problems. Huge, huge issue with the engine that was fitted to the 520d. Looking at potential complete engine failure (worst case scenario). They are a nice car in the right spec though and are great to drive but educate yourself and make the call. Nothing to say about the dealer, I never encountered them.

Do not buy a car particularly this one without having it checked by a BMw specialist first!

Nice car. If you don't mind a bit extra tax (well a good bit actually) you could go for a 525i from 06/07 which are going for absolute buttons and don't have the timing chain problem, approx half the price of an 08 520d I would wager overall cost of ownership will be cheaper overall up to average mileage. You will get more lower mileage cars too. Still a good move up the years for you
