    Backdated to your application.
If applying send it registered post. There is a 3 week processing time at the moment.

Hi im in my 8th week waiting.....I had a call from the social welfare officer and she was supposed to come to my apartment yesterday but didnt and I have no way to contact her as she called off a private number..... Just wondering if anyone has any experience on waiting times when it goes to the social welfare officer......I just left my partner and moved into apartment with my daughter......I really need the FIS payment to help me stay afloat as my bills have already started going into arrears.......I thought the FIS process would a bit easier and quicker.....does anyone know if I can get a payment while I wait for FIS?
    Thanks

Im not sure if I can get single parent coz my daughters time is split between the two houses ( my ex's & mine).....I've never applied for any social welare payments so not really sure how things work.

All I know is.my bills rent and food are.costing me more than I get paid and my wages are €354 per week.

One parent allowance is paid to the parent the child(ren) spend the most time with. Unless the time is split evenly 50/50 between both of you one of you should be able to apply for it.

It might be worth talking to someone in a Citizens Information Centre or contat Treoir for advice on what is the best in your particular circumstances as there can be a number of factors to consider - one parent family allowance vs jobseekers transitional payment vs family income supplement , hours worked and pattern of work hours, the age of the child(ren).

There are also ancillary social supports which you may be able to apply for.

We do split the time 50/50 not something I really want but to save arguments and friction....I thought this would be best for my daughter. Thanks you for the infornatiom I am going to try and get a day off work during the week to go and speak to someone.

Where would I find out about ancillery support?

Citizen's Information, Treoir or local one parent family support group should be able to advise.

Ancillary supports would include medical card, school travel, back to school clothing and footwear allowance, rent allowance or housing asistance payment, etc. ...

The rules and interactions between different supports can be complex so it is best to talk with someone who is familiar with the various supports available and can advise you on your own particular circumstances.

You mention child resides 50/50. Fis will only pay to the parent the child resides with, or to whom is the qualified parent. As in where dsp think the child resides, whoever receives the child benefit.

There was a delay in my application for fis because the child benefit crowd didn't expect a child to primarily reside with a father and strung it out some.

If you've a child benefit application in too, try following up on that.

Fyi, fis have a phone line but it's only open in the mornings now. If you want I can dig it up and pm you it later. All you need is to give your pps number and they should be able to look up status of your application.

Thanks for your reply.....the social welfare officer came today and asked me questions.....apparently files are chosen at random for home visits....just my luck lol.....hopefully the decision will go my way. I receive the child benefit and updated to my new address recently. I hope they give me FIS without it im not too sure what I will do tbh......I did call the FIS phone line before 15 mintues on hold and they took all my phone credit. I did get an email reply which is when I found out my application was with the social welfare officer.
I will email again Monday and hopefully they willbe able to give me an update.

I called them on Monday last week to check if they had received payslips I sent 3 weeks earlier by registered post.
Said they hadn't received them even though they had been signed for.
I emailed them again ,as they had the original ones and got a letter yesterday saying I was approved.
I had originally applied in June, so it took about 8 weeks thanks to their inability to securely move documents from their post room to their claims section.

They files are selected at random...theyve a quota to reach so not all people have to have a visit. I was just "lucky" lol

    Got my letter today hooray

Onky isse is it has other income as €80 I advised the social office my partner pays half the creche fees which is €80. But my daughter starts school next week and the creche fees will no longer be there. Annoyed a little bit.

over all weekly amount €50 this is only going to cover my food I think. So not too happy with the decision and gping to try and appeal it.

Hi all, I know this is a little off topic, my husband is self employed for the last few years business has been very quiet of late and was wondering if he was to take me on as a part time worker would I be entitled to claim a fis payment we have 5 dependent children and have never claimed any welfare payment before I have phoned the local welfare office and been fobbed off as we are self employed, any advice would be greatly appreciated as we really don't know which way to turn next thanks in advance
