Can a Triton T80 be tank fed?

    Hi all,

Looking for a little help. My Mira Go electric shower gave up the ghost recently, so I swapped it out with a Triton T80. I specifically picked this replacement electric shower as it has a 'low pressure' indicator.

After installing, the water trickles out, and the low pressure indicator is showing. It's mains fed, and the pipe is taken from just before the fill pipe of the tank in the attic. I've read the T90 is designed for tanks, but can I use the T80 with an external pump (and feed it from the tank instead of mains)?

I can't really bring back the T80 for a refund, as there's nothing wrong with it. Any ideas appreciated. Also, if there's any plumbers out there that would be interested in taking on this job, send me a PM. I'm based in Celbridge.

    Thanks in advance.

    Why not connect to mains

Ok so you have connected a mains fed shower to the mains and find that the pressure in Ireland doesn't really suit mains fed showers for the most part.
Option 1 is take feed from tank and put a pump on it. I'm guessing you are looking at 350 to 450 for this setup.
Option 2 is fit triton t90sr for around 330 / 350 supplied and fitted. You should get 100 Euro or more for the t80z on done deal, especially if you still have the receipt.
I'd go with option 2 if it were me

Yes, it's connected to the mains, and the pressure no longer seems to be sufficient. I've heard from several people that since Irish Water took over, pressures have dropped in many areas - I thought this was just a rumour, but I guess not!

    A few questions:

    1. The T90SR is tank fed - right? Would it pull a lot more power from the electricity supply, or would the existing wiring/breaker do the job?
If so, I'd be fairly confident I could handle this job myself, as I installed the T80.

    2. Is the T90SR much different to the T90Z (discounted in Woodies right now)? Just quieter?

    3. I have a power shower in the guest room ensuite also. Would it be an issue if both were running at the same time? (very rare, but still)

Triton t90sr is the same kW as the t80 so it doesn't use more electricity. Couldn't comment on your cable and breaker without seeing it but as I say same kW rating.

T90z is discontinued, that's why they are selling cheap. They'll stop making replacement parts in 5 o 6 years time so you may not have the option to repair it after that. The pump in the t90z makes noise as most pumped showers do. The t90sr is silent. The only difference inside the showers are the pump & solenoid. Everything else is the same. Both are good showers. You can expect to pay 250 for the triton t90sr without fitting.

You can't run 2 electric shower at the same time but there is no issue running an electric shower and power shower at the same time.

Perfect. Thanks for the help. Can you supply the Triton T90SR yourself?
