Did you ever find a new firmware as mine is exactly the same?

I didn't, I found firmware on some site but didn't install it, as I wasn't sure was it trustworthy. Google and u will be able to find it. If u install it, let me know how u get on and I'll follow suit.

    Regards

Thanks for link, might become handy at some point.

Have you flashed it, what version, how does it run?

I have not yet as i am currently on version 21.310.01.00.07 and the latest version i can find in the link is 21.316.01.00.00

I cant find any change log or anything so not even sure if it is worth while changing. My current firmware is generic as just says "4G home gateway" in web UI so unsure if i will lose features if i do change firmware.

Do you have any idea about the firmware in the link and any idea why the newest is from 2017 surely there has been a firmware update since then?

No, not particularly, reason i ask if you had a go. Just keeping finger on pulse in case would need.

I have flashed my B593 (from Three to generic), but it was long ago - it worked and served well after that, until upgraded (still functional but not in use). Had B5186(from LMT, unlocked) for short time, now on B525 on generic/de-branded and happy.

Generic firmware, as far i have seen, has Huawei logo on left top in GUI, ISP's customize it with their own. Region/Country/ISP is reflected in firmware last number, according this article yours would be Sweden/Denmark/Norway for Telia/Netcom
Functionality usually limited on ISP's, but to different degree - have seen Meteor's(ROI) B315 where you not even able to change first two octets for IP - locked down to 192.168

This model (B5186) was released somewhere ~2015 so its old-ish, issues would be resolved in couple updates that was released since, support could faded as newer models available.

From what I can see from videos and reviews online my current firmware appears to have all the features of the latest firmware. e.g virtual server, 4g band section etc.. so no real need to update.

You mentioned you have the B525, did you notice any improvement over the E5186. I ask as I may upgrade if it is worth it. It doesn't look like I have any other options other than Miband for the foreseeable future.

Both are Gen6 and have similar features. See comparison: https://www.4gltemall.com/blog/huawei-b525-vs-huawei-e5186/
If you asking with signal/speed in mind - no, both powerful to same degree and signal will depend on ISP/mast.

Reason i got B525 was either get another B5186 or go for newer model.
I had to return mine due to legal dispute i won against supplier about bulk purchase, unrelated to particular device.

I updated my own E5186 from mega.nz as linked to earlier. My previous ver. was also 21.310.01.00.07. I gather this was a Telia release from the purple logo on the front of my unit, but nothing else to show Telia in web UI. That would also tie in with that 07 at end of firmware no. which matches with the operator code listed as Telia in the routerunlock.com article link also mentioned above

Therefore IMO the appropriate latest update software for 21.310.01.00.07, should you be interested, is BV7R2C0update_21.316.01.01.07 - Telia - LATEST.gz.bin (30/11/2117) which can be found in Telia (Sweden) folder on Mega.nz.

Not sure if updating with the original Huawei firmware (21.316.01.00.00) would work because of the telco change from 07 to 00, at least using the Web UI method I used. Many others have loaded modified firmware using a tool called multicast_upgrade_tool.exe over at 4pda.ru Russian forum but I haven't tried it, for the brave only I'd say based on feedback from that forum.
    https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=https://4pda.ru/forum/lofiversion/index.php%3Ft643961-380.html&prev=search

I simply updated using the Web UI admin page and the Update tab - local update, with an Ethernet connection to laptop having downloaded the Telia file. Update itself was thankfully uneventful, apart from the following, and should possibly take only a few minutes after the router reboots a few times. But I found after about 20 mins had passed I was still getting a spinning circle telling me to wait for update to finish. I noticed the Ethernet link to router was disconnected but all appeared fine with router itself, stable and no longer rebooting, full lights with cyan blue on for 4G. However once I also switched on a Wifi connection to router, the Web UI page then immediately updated itself and reported the update was successful. For good measure I subsequently reset the router to default values though possibly not necessary. In hindsight perhaps it would have been better to have done this prior to performing the update as I had personalized some settings.

As regards the update the only difference I have noticed is that there is now 2 extra sub-menus under System tab called Logs and Update Settings, see pic. So far I can see nothing yet is "logged" as such and the Update Settings gives you the option to Enable/Disable an update without logging in. But I believe there is no more official updates for this unit anyway therefore no benefit.

So in summary I'd say hardly worth the effort. I too have not seen any change logs relating to 21.316.01.01.07 so don't know if anything else has improved or security enhanced in any way.

TBH what is far more interesting is the utilities found under the Tools folder in Mega.nz. Apart from the aforementioned multicast_upgrade_tool check out LTEWatchH.exe, E5186 Toolbox.exe or even huaweicalc.exe which some may find "useful".
