Mac Mini - Draining my 4G Wifi Data Allowance?

I recently purchased a mac mini and connected it to my mobile 4G internet.
After about 2 hours use, my mobile dongle data allowance expired. I never use up my monthly allowance, and it is about 1 week until my next billing cycle. In any case, I contacted Vodafone and requested a 10 GB add on. After this, I used to mac mini again for about 2 hours, just playing youtube videos, after that, the 10GB expired. Is it possible that there is something going on in the background that is draining my data?

    dropbox syncing?

go to spotlight and search for "Activity Monitor" and click the Network tab and see what processes are using the most network resources?

Web browsing would use a lot. Desktop websites are very bloated. Add in hi-def Youtube and that would account for a lot it. The Mac may also be syncing with iCloud, iTunes, downloading app updates in the background, etc. You can disable some of these things, but tbh using a mobile dongle with a Mac for anything but very short periods probably isn't a good idea.

thanks, I normally use an iPAD and have been using this 4G dongle for about 10 months now. Never had this issue. Maybe I can go find some sync options and disable them...
