Choosing a hdmi monitor

I'm thinking of buying a large[ish] flatscreen monitor to hook my laptop up to and wonder if there are any gotcha's when buying for linux compatibility?

Has anyone had any bad experiences with different tech or brands?

I was thinking of just using the laptop's built in speakers -more a workstation at home than for multi-media though I'm sure I'll watch the odd video.

I can't imagine there should be big problems but better to ask first than regret afterwards.

I have a 20" BENQ monitor which works fine.

Get one with HDMI input and built in speakers.

Should be no problems whatsoever on the standard HDMI interface.

Sound, I figure if no one is posting any problem stories there shouldn't be any issues.
