My wife brought this back to life after we found it on the balcony of our new apartment.

    Any idea what it is?

Think it's a geranium, they die off/back every winter & come back every summer, give it a bit of a fertiliser & it should come on & rewArd you with some flowers.

Yes -- and don't over-water it. It needs a nice loose compost and hates to sit in damp and heavy soil. Plenty of sun, a little water and add some grit/gravel into your compost and it will be fine. Nice leafed variety too by the look of it.

Thanks. Thought it looked more like a tree.
    Seems very barky.

Is it not an Anusberry tree?

Geranium or pelargonium, I never know the difference

This plant is a pelargonium, but they are very commonly known as geraniums. The actual geranium is a hardy plant that is really not all that similar to a pelargonium - geranium is also known as cranesbill.

The problem is that they initially thought that pelargoniums were geraniums, and so they were known as that. After a while, they realised they are actually different genera within the same family, but pelargoniums are still commonly referred to as geraniums.
