Hi I have an interview on Wednesday for the position of retail betting assistant in paddy powers and I was just wondering what attire is most suitable, should I wear a suit or would a nice shirt and jeans be suitable, it's my first job interview so I have no idea. And also what type of facts would I be expected to know about the company? Thanks

Shirt and slacks at a minimum.

You can always dress more casually at a second interview if you're overdressed at the first. But if they're expecting a suit at the first and you're not in one, you often seriously hurt your chances for a second interview.

As a candidate, always, always err on the side of overdressing for an interview.

As for research on the company, have a look at their own website and see what they say about themselves - this is how they want themselves to be seen, so make sure you know their story/culture/atmosphere - whatever they're pushing.

Also have a look on Glassdoor for reviews, and make a note of the most common points pointed out. The good ones you can bring up as things you've heard about them that make you want to work for them. The bad ones are more for you to watch out for during the interview process, and to possibly discuss before accepting an offer from them.

If it's an entry level position, this level of interview prep may be overkill, but this is more a look at best practices. Figure out what applies to your specific situation and take it from there.

Hope that helps, and best of luck to you!

Keep up with their antics and ad campaigns. Also the company is called Paddy Power, not Powers not sure if you typo'd it but you typed the company name incorrect twice :).

I have an interview coming up for a position in the head office there, can anyone comment on what they're like to work for? Good office atmosphere? Career progression?
