Hi I've been on a work placement recently and have an option of part time work . My boss seems fairly flexible as in he is willing to work with me on hours and that so I'm just wondering what my options are have been looking at a lot of posts that say working more than 3 days part time will cut my payment completely . At the moment I'm claiming for myself my partner and 2 children and getting 370 pw . I've enquired about fis and back to work family dividend but there's so many different answers I'm just wondering if there's someone in a similar situation to mine and what did they do . I know it's a big ask but any help would be appreciated .

1)How many days a week will you be working,(not hours)

You will only retain a jobseekers payment if you are working 3 days or less.

If you work 19hrs a week or more and your household income is less than €612 (for a family of 2 kids) per week you can claim FIS.
Fis pay 60% of the difference between the income limit for your family size and your take home pay.

If you have been receiving Jobseekers for a year or more and you sign off then you can claim the Family Dividend aswell as FIS.

Alternatively if your partner is available for work they can sign on for Jobseekers and you can still apply for FIS but in that scenario you will not get the family dividend.

My partner will be at home with our youngest child but will be seeking part time work as well I've been trying to work out which one will be best as money will be tight with travel costs etc factored in never thought getting back to work would be such a pain in the a$$

5 days will be full time and you wont get any JSA,3 days take your gross less prsi and subtract €60 then get 60%of the remainder, this will give you you weekly means.
Means(from above)subtract from €370(your present payment)= your new jsa payment.
