Moving back from UK. P45 Query

    Hi,

I will be taking up a new job back in Ireland next month.

I have been working in the UK since mid January.

Should I provide my UK P45 to my new employer?

I finished my previous job in Ireland the start of January so would that P45 suffice?

Apologies if this is a silly question!

    Thanks

Your UK P45 is of no use in Ireland. Might be worth you while ringing the tax office and getting a week1 basis applied.

You will be taxable on the UK income here in Ireland, so you will need to send that P45 in to the tax office.

Your tax credits can then be adjusted accordingly. The UK P45 is no good to an Irish employer, but you can give them your Irish one from earlier in the year, and they can use the tax credits on that, on a temporary basis, until the new tax cert comes out from Revenue.

If the op has been out of Ireland for more than 1 tax year, he can avail of split year treatment and his UK employment income will not be taxable in Ireland.

I think the OP only left Ireland in January.
