I'm trying to organise a single entry visa to go to Russia next month. How should I go about this?

You could consider contacting the Russian embassy and asking them...?

First you need an invitation letter. Google it and you should get it within 3 or 4 days. Download and fill out visa application form from embassy website and include invitation details. Bring all out to embassy visa office - open 9-11.30am only - and bring postal order for fees. They will take your application and advise you when you can return to collect your visa. If they are declining your application they will tell you on the first visit and will return your paperwork.

The application must be filled out online, you cannot download it and fill it out by hand. You'll need all the info handy:
    • Visa dates required, from/to
    • where you're staying (full address)
    • who you're staying with (if private invitation) - their full name, DOB, address and passport info I think
    • If you're staying in more than 1 place, then you'll have to listed other cities/addresses
You can save your form progress and return to it later.

Just to reiterate, postal order ONLY for the fee. They won't take cards or cash.

    Russian's are picky

Make sure you have travel insurance and that it covers Russia.
Everything has to match up, flight dates, hotel dates etc
Any decent hotel will sort you out with the invite letter

There isn't really any formal queue, it can be fun

Quite a few folks are sent away packing due even the most minor of issues
