Selling a bricked phone

    Hi Guys,

I have a Samsung Note 4 that I had flashed custom OS on and managed to hard brick the phone, no life in it at all anymore and is not even recognised as a phone when connected to the PC. I reckon it may need a new motherboard or CPU.

Is it possible to trade this phone in for cash now? It was in perfect nick other than the not working anymore!

Is it safe to trade in now, I didn't log out of anything on it so some of my data would be still on the device. Except for the fact it is essentially a paperweight now.

Any guidance with what to do with it would help, cheers.

Ah if it was a soft brick I could fix it with not much problem. But I never encountered a hard brick on a phone before. It responds to nothing, reset, charger, different battery, connecting to pc, boot to recovery, boot to install os.

Don't know what else I could do other than replace parts in it. Got a oneplus 3 in the end so just looking for some money from my old phone if possible.

Worst case I'd image the screen and other parts are worth money.
It's surely valuable to someone with a damaged device.

Exactly, Do ya think I would get much for it?

Is my data safe to sell on now that the phone is bricked?

Sure I'm intrigued but I might try my hand elsewhere haha

I wouldn't imagine that your data is safe. But if you sell it to repairs shop or similar, they will most likely wipe it properly before doing whatever they bought it for.

Have you tried putting on the stock with ADB?

Yeah tried that, phone is completely dead, when I connect it to the PC it just recognizes the CPU and that's it, nothing about a phone, tried reinstalling drivers and everything else I could think of. I am 99% sure its knackered.

If you get the "du-don" USB sound when you connect it then the board is still somewhat working. Its quite possible you could recover it via fastboot.
