So I'm out of work for 2 weeks With a broken finger. Luckily I still get paid for the 2 weeks off. What'll I do to keep myself ocupied. I was thinking of starting an emu farm or a cult..
    Paid?

You've 9 more fingers (including thumbs) - that's 18 more week's paid time off work.

Obviously spend the next two weeks thinking on how you can get them broken.

    Old joke...

Got a call from my brother who said he was in hospital after losing his finger in a work accident. I asked him if it was the whole finger. He said "No, the one next to it."

Different system here in New Zealand for workplace injuries. All expenses and wages are covered. It's a great system..

But it's only a finger.....is the job you do dependent on THAT finger?

Yup. Being a plumber it's kinda hard to do much with your hand wrapped up.

Yup , can't use that finger to stop leaks.

I broke two fingers and didn't take any time off. In fact, I shattered the knuckles on both of those fingers.

    Man up, OP.

    :pac:

It does absolutely suck, though, and hope it heals properly. Don't think mine did and they're an awful pain sometimes!

You can give me plumbing advice if you like? I want to take a radiator out of my bedroom, do I have to drain it and stuff first? Can I just unscrew it and carry it downstairs?

What do they do to fix a broken finger?

I broke a finger a few years back, didn't realise it was broken and thought it was just a sprain. It wasn't until a few weeks later when it healed and was all bent that I guessed it must have been broken.

It looks weird now, I suppose I would have to re-break it to get it straight again?

Pretty much, yea. The only thing they can do is splint it.

When I broke mine, the doctor I went to said, "ara, it's just a sprain" and sent me on my merry way. 4 days later, went to work and the supervisor on duty took one look at my fingers, which were quite swollen and pale, told me they were absolutely broken and that's pretty much the only reason I got them x-rayed.

What do you work at that you can't go to work with a broken finger?

took one look at my fingers, which were quite swollen

It's the swelling that's the give away, which is basically blood leaking from the broken capillaries.

Don't you hate it when people don't read the full thread :pac:

I had a farm accident and ended up with having 3 bones broken in my ankle and a dislocation. My foot was pointing in the opposite direction. I'm on the verge of a panic attack looking at it basically pointing in an unnatural direction.
My father, in an attempt to calm me down told me to stop crying because it was only a sprain. When they called the ambulance they asked on the phone was there any bones sticking out through the skin  imagine seeing that happen??? A broken bone would be the least of my concern, I'd need the ambulance for a heart attack.
