Have a google look for malcolms.ie. They have a Towbar section, they are Witter Dealers. The details page for every Towbar also includes a link to the fitting instructions c/w a diagram.

My insurance company wanted an assessors report on a roof rack I fitted myself
Can't see them having a problem with a towbar

I presume the days of self design and fit are gone.:D
I want one for a bike rack on a Nissan Leaf EV and they only one I can find is made in the US.

Its the same chassis as the petrol version so the holes are there

    Thanks

Plenty of Prius's etc going around the USA with both DIY and factory-made Tow Bars....using them specifically for Bike Racks.
If you can get a ready-made Bar to fit onto your Leaf, and just use for a Bike Rack there shouldn't be a problem.

I made one for my own Prius just for a 2-Bike Rack and it worked absolutely fine. I never towed anything with it though as I know the Box-section i used would not stand up to much pulling force. I just copied one I spotted on a USA Prius site.

I am going to take off the under panel and have a look see for bolt holes.
They changed the design in 2014 so they mea not be there anymore.
My design would be to have two pieces of box or channel // to the chassis and sit the bike rack on these two rather than the traditional rack supported out of the middle of the classic tower.

Update from a tow bar fitting company:
As the Nissan Leaf is not homologated for towing so there is no towbar manufactured for this vehicle.
What this mean is that the vehicle manufacturer in this case Nissan, have specified that a towbar cannot be fitted to this vehicle.
