Disconnecting Gas Hob & Electric Oven - can it be DIY ?

I know when installing new gas or electric hob and/or cooker it needs to be done with a suitably qualified & certified person but for disconnecting is there anything stopping me doing it myself ?

I'm sure the electric oven is pretty straightforward to disconnect, never really looked at the gas hob so not sure what type of connection is on that.

The plan would be to disconnect and remove kitchen, fit new floor and a few bits and then setup new appliances so will be at least a few days between disconnecting and reconnecting so dont really want 2 call out charges for both the gas and electric (€130 each based on the initial quoted installation cost) so could be potentially €520 if 2 callouts required!

Most gas fitters will do the disconnect and reconnect as one job, especially if they work locally.

What may happen if you disconnect is that no one will touch the reconnect: I think the reason is that the last guy to work on it carries the can for all previous work being kosher.

The other wrinkle is that, AFAIK, the old style rubber flexies are now verboten which means new pipework will be required to replace any existing flex, so you need to plan for it if relevant
