Do I need to submit a section 5 exemption for this?

    So I am proposing to build a timber frame shed to the side of the house, the front of the shed will be behind the back line of the house (a semi-d in an estate). The shed will be for storage etc.
    The external dimensions of the garage will be 3.65 x 2.44, height to ridge 3.5 metres. I intend to build it so that it rests up on concrete pads and so can be moved with a forklift.
    Do I need to match the finish of the house even though it is a temporary structure? Do I need to draw up the plans and complete a section 5?

    Any advice appreciated as I intend to sell the house and don't want to run into trouble.

    Are you within the limits of exempted planning guidelines?
    Technically speaking i think it should match the house finished but drowning in position and size.

    For example, a timber garden shed won't match the house but is considered acceptable.

    Imho you should be ok based in the info supplied but I suppose the prudent thing to do would get a section 5 answer from the LA.

    Or a decent local architect, technician etc could offer advice and plot out what's required.

    From DCC website:

    Can I build a garden shed on my property without permission?
    Yes, provided that:

    It is not forward of the front wall of the house;
    Not greater than 25sqm (or no. of sheds aggregated);
    25sqm of garden space is left. N.B. extensions attached to house are not reckoned as private open space;
    Shed finish is in keeping with the house;
    Shed height: max 4m pitched roof; 3m flat roof;
    It is not lived in or used for keeping of animals (pigs, ponies, horses, pigeons).

    Thanks for the replies guys.
    I have often submitted section 5 applications in the past, but not sure do I need to on this one. I mean I plan to build it on a platform so that I can move it with a forklift at a later date. Would it be considered the same as a garden shed?
    I am familiar with all the guidelines etc as I do some work in this area.
