Is there any alternative to this I am not registered with the icbf and dont feel like forking out 60 euro to find the sire of one bull.Anyhow if the farmer who i purchased the bull off was not registered with the icbf how can the bull show up on it .

It's free and all male cattle show up on it. You don't need to sign up to ICBF to check out a bulls rating.

Did the previous owner breed him. He should know the bulls sire. The sire won't show upon icbf if the sire wasn't put down when registering the calf and in that case there will be no way of knowing uunless the breeder can tell you the sire.

    I

I bought a dry cow which subsequently proved to be in calf .The calf is not breeding top calfs which are in fact better than the aforementioned
stock bull which i purchased .However due to numbers i dont know what cow he was actually off.Is there any way i could find out the sire by possibly taking dna sample or something similar to this

Text above confusing. Ask lad u bought the bull off... when I see bulls sold pedigree unregistered there is often a mess of a story behind them. A bull with a cert is always worth more than an unregistered and this would more than cover the cost of registration.

Not knocking your breeding programme (my own mightn't be the best..) but maybe you'd be better off next time buying pedigree registered bull as opposed to using a pedigree unregistered bull or a surprise calf off a cull dry cow you bought.

That being said if you're in the new Suckler Scheme if you genotype the sires you are using good chance they should be able to identify the breeding from the database - at least for the ped Unreg bull.

They've added now that any female in a icbf registered herd will give her details.
Personally I'd like if an icbf registered user could get the info on any female (handy when viewing stock)

Sometimes it works out fine, PBNR aubrac here and he's €124 replacement, 5 star across breeds and €95 terminal, 3 star. All his sons slaughtered this spring were either U or R grade, bought him for €1200.
