Ebook price differences

Not exactly a Bargain, but something to be aware of:

I just purchased the last John Grisham book from Amazon.co.uk, Rogue Lawyer for €5.88 (£4.99). The same book is still on Ibooks/Itunes for €14.99, a price difference of over €9!

From looking at a number of ebooks, the price difference is always quite stark....so just something to bear in mind for anything stocking up on ebooks for the summer reads!

That'll be the Apple premium, you're paying for a higher quality ebook, probably with a nice white cover

Pricing for the major publishers is usually dictated by the publishers themselves. That's why Amazon had that run in with Hachette last year. Agency pricing, so not really Apple's fault in this case.

Amazon is by far the best. Look at Google Play for some pricing madness. I only use it if I've built up a fair bit of credit (can use Three credit on Google Play).

you can use luzme.com to compare ebook prices across different sellers, and ereader iq to get alerts for Kindle price drops. Unless you desperately have to read something right now, its usually possible to get a better price by shopping around and / or waiting a few days. The PITA for me is that I prefer to read on the Kindle, regardless of price!

I signed up for NetGalley after leaving some reviews of books on Amazon and Goodreads. You can sign up as a book reviewer(I had very few reviews out up) and you can request free advance ebook copies of upcoming releases from the publishers. Think I've requested about 10 so far and was approved for 7 with 3 declined.

A nice way of getting free and advance copies of books. Just write a small review afterwards and leave it on NetGalley/Amazon/Goodreads etc and you are more likely to get approved.
