Audi a5 1.8 TFSI timing belt?

    Slightly old thread folks, but can anyone shed light on the difference between the timing belt and/or chain configuration in 2008 vs. 2009 onwards A5 1.8 TFSI vehicles?

    The thread below confuses me. My question is, if I buy an 08 1.8 TFSI, do I need to worry about changing a timing BELT?

    Is there a clear way to tell what the configuration is, perhaps with the VIN number?
