I usually have to wait 2-3 days after every milk collection before I am able to calculate the average milk yield. Is there a cheap & simple milk metre that can be placed on the milk line entering the bulk tank so that I can know after every milking what the average milk yield is? This way I know average milk yield twice daily instead of once every 2-3 days.

Why do you need to know average milk yield twice a day?

Didnt a lot of the older tanks have a graduated dipstick in them ? Wouldnt be super accurate but would a cheap inline flow meter be, easier to clean too .

You shouldn't be looking at the tank to make your decisions, its too late by then. You should be looking at the grass that's ahead of your cows for the next week. Get your grass right and the tank will follow.

Weigh cells for your tank....then you also have a system to check if the collection truck is measuring correctly.
Previously we had a 4500l tank that we used to fill and then use a stanby for the excess, but when that 4500 tank was full to overflowing there was 80l difference between the meters on 2 different collection trucks.....but which one was right?
