night shift and breaks

    hi
I have a question about breaks on the night shift. I work as a night manager together with my colleague. Hotel is fairly big and basically, everything between 11-7 is on us. Our working hours are 1045-715. In my opinion, we do not have the real breaks cause we are always on site and whenever something is happening I have to come back to the desk and deal with it. However, breaks are not paid. I think this is not right because we are like on permanent standby and as such we should be either have paid breaks or work only 8 hours. Do you have any experience with night work and how can I approach this problem.

You're entitled to a break of 30 minutes in total. Can one of you not cover while the other takes their break?

It's possible but if I am on the break and there is a major problem I have to quite my break and come back to work. In other words, I can not leave my workplace so de facto it's not a break
