How's things. Just want to know from people with experience would April be an OK month to move to Oz? Going over on a working visa in the construction industry. Labourer etc etc. Heading to either Perth or Melbourne. Any ideas which would be better? Thanks in advance

The construction industry in Perth isn't too good at the minute. Mining industry and Oil & Gas are on their knees, and it has had repercussions throughout the city. The property market is saturated also. You only need to look at the different Irish in Perth facebook groups to see so many people advertising places for rent.

As for Melbourne, there's definitely a lot more happening there, even with the loss of the automotive industry; however, if you arrive in April, it'll be the middle of Autumn, and winter does get very cold in Melbourne.

Sydney is pumping with work at the minute. Lots of infrastructure and medium/high rise stuff going on. Probably the easiest place to get work. I'd avoid Perth, WA isn't doing so well right now.
