We had our first proper trip away in our new to us van last week besides getting used to the smaller size the van was a dream,I was very pleasantly surprised with the options for parking available to us on the first night alone we had a choice of 3 places quite close to each other, 2 aires type and 1campsite the first was in Rooskey at the back of the tackle shop while we didn't stay it looked like a good option with power available for a €10 , 2nd was Anderson's Thatched Cottage in the carpark it was a bit close to the road so we didn't fancy it in the end we chose Lough key €22 without electric.Later in the week we stayed in another aires in Achill sound we couldn't get on to the parking on the Docks in Galway as it was chockablock full as there was a festival on but there were lots of other vans there.

So hopefully we have turned the corner with the private sector stepping in where the local councils have let us down, are there many another private aires outside of the few that are council run ?
