I may be building a small house on the side of my mother's place. At this moment in time construction and planning permission are a fair bit off but I was wondering what is the rough cost to get an architect to do a drawing just so as I have an idea of what is feasible with the space.

Any suggestions of a decent fit for the job also welcome.

    Dublin based.

    Thanks

This is a very tough one to price, you kinda have to go all in to some degree.
The architect still has to survey the site and then prepare the drawing as if he was going for planning, because if he just puts in any house shape then it might not actually be feasible.

Are you going for pre planning?
Will the arch have to go ?

Cheers for the reply. I'm not going for pre planning yet as in reality this is a build that is at least 3 years down the line.

Yeah I'd ideally like to have the architect come out have a look and then make a proposal and a drawing

Planning process can take longer than you think. Bear that in mind.

In 2008 it cost me c5k. before vat, good architect but nice design - nothing too 'dreamy' - and that was special deal as I knew the architect. Drawings to planning stage only. No preplanning meeting attendance as I did that myself. Presumably now would be 7k plus vat.
