    Hi

does anyone have any experience of the above. have the standard patio 2 glass panel but want to change it to one nice xlarge piece of glass.
Extra work isnt a problem as it has to be changed anyway.
    Thanks

So you want to remove a sliding patio door and replace it with a large fixed glass window with no openings? Shouldn't be a problem. Most glass companies will deal with fixed glass windows up to 3 meters long in triple glazed. As long as the ope isn't wider than this you'll be fine.

Sorry, its actually one large sliding door that i want. Maybe something that will have to be imported in? 3/4 meters in length would be top!

How is the one large glass unit going to slide, or more to the fact where is it going to slide to??

Your replacing two standard sliding patio doors with one large sliding unit?? Is this right yea?

Not sure how this is achieved, it can't slide into the cavity as there would be wall ties and insulation etc. So I'm not understanding where it slides to its it 3-4m in length

    Have you a picture

You will have to knock out a portion of wall to the side of the existing unit, in order to fix a frame for the new unit to slide on.

you wont get an exact replacement unless you just want one half of the existing ope to be sliding.

Have a look at the pic in my signature, is it this you are looking for?

Remember an opening of that size in a wall will require an engineer to design it. You'll probably need some steelwork.

Impossible question as huge range of prices and specifications, huge choice of manufacturers and/or suppliers in Ireland (see previous extensive threads here on Boards).

Advise putting in the research and clarifying for yourself, initially, size, style and specification YOU want and that suits the space. Then fix on your price range (budget, mid-range or high-end). Next choose a couple of suppliers who do closest to that product. Next visit showroom/discuss lead-in times for order etc. You may need to cycle through this process a couple of times.

Fruits of my own experience with large sliders. Any less structured approach can drive you to distraction as the issues are so complex. Good luck with it!

If you could point me to the other thread indicating suppliers in Ireland, I'd be most obliged

Without naming a particular company on here, you simply have to call any window supplier from the phone book, Internet and they can quote you. They all supply what you are looking for.
