    ..do I have to present this to someone after the lessons are done? Or is my instructor just signing off each time for the craic.

    They take a copy of the lesson page from the logbook and then mark the lesson as completed in RSA's computer system. You can only book your driving test when the instructor has logged all of you lessons as completed.
    I brought my logbook to the test to be safe lbut didn't need it.
