It depends what the signal is like where you intend to use it.

This from the Saorview FAQs (My emphasis):
2RN, who transmit the Saorview signals nationwide, recommend the use of a professionally installed UHF roof aerial to receive Saorview. Your local aerial installer will be best positioned to recommend the correct aerial type for your location.

It may be possible in some areas to use an attic aerial, and in some instances it may be possible to use an indoor set-top aerial ...

Basically, they didn't design the transmission network with widespread indoor reception in mind, but there should be a fair amount of places where it's possible, usually close to transmitters, or at least with an unobstructed view, say somwhere on high ground.

I have a ten-euro indoor one from Argos, does the job just fine in Dublin.

All those indoor aerials on the Argos websites are intended for UHF reception or UHF + VHF (VHF for radio).

Looking at the Irish site, I wouldn't go above & beyond this most basic type, if it's just for TV.

The UK site has this log-periodic type, which would be my choice if buying from there, though I might add these recommendations have no basis in personal experience of either aerial.

Hi - I'm looking for a bit of advice/help in relation to the basic Argos indoor aerial. I picked one up at the weekend for portable in kitchen but its very hit and miss. When I turn tv picture is either 100% or more usually blank and so I have to re-tune and even then this isn't a guaranteed solution

Would anyone have any advice on how I can improve reception or if another aerial might offer better results? Thanks a lot!
