Title is misleading but I want to know if I can work part-time (gross income of €800/month) whilst on maternity leave?

When my maternity leave ends, I'm hoping to apply for carers leave to care for a sick child so the same question applies? To be able to afford stay off work, I'm hoping to continue the part-time work and I assume it'll be tax free as its below the threshold. Am I right about that?

If you apply for carers benefit you can work 15 hours a week with the benefit to a maximum of around 300 euro net (can't remember exact figure) If your doing that I would recommend transferring your credits to your oh as you will be below the threshold. You can also then apply tor incapacitated child tax credit and have it applies to OH which will help even more. I was actually onto the carers benefit section yesterday and had a good chat if you want to pm me.

If you apply for domicilary care allowance, you also automatically qualify for respite grant which is 1700 euro paid every June :-D

Thanks s million Emma. Will drop you a pm tomorrow. My head is all over the place with these forms. I don't think we're going to get anything but I want to try.

I know,I have a stack of them here and forms are my nemesis. I wouldn't say you would have any problems especially if you are going to have a lot of appointments. They are so lovely to deal with as well so a call might help you sort it all out in your head Let me know how you get on!

    As do carers

Yes it applies to carers benefit recipient and carers allowance recipients also. From what I can gather, if you apply for domicilary care allowance first, if that's approved, it cuts out the work on a lot of the other forms as medical forms aren't required if Dom care allowance has been granted and it gives you the automatic entitlement to respite grant.

Yes that's true, though if op or another reader doesn't qualify for DCA it's nice to know the grant is available to all carers. It might just be the way I read it though, perhaps it was obvious to others!

No it was probably the way I wrote it lol I tend to "spill" as I call it in informal writing situations. My texting is a mess and forget punctuation. It rarely happens :-P
