are there any hidden fees when buying from ebay using paypal / debit card?

    Hi there

    I want to buy something from ebay and have a BOI bank account linked to paypal with no funds to make the purchase within paypal itself. When I check out on ebay I can't use any other option but paypal to proceed with the checkout. My guess is that paypal will try and take the funds from my debit card associated with my paypal account but I wanted to ask if anybody knows if there are any charges associated with this transaction? So basically if the product and shipping come to 100 euro, will only 100 euro be taken from my account?

    I was living in Spain last year and using my debit card there I incurred 50 euro additional using my debit card to make a purchase on ebay. Want to avoid that again

    Card charges are based on your card type and account type. Contact BOI for your charge structure.

    Paypal charge the seller their fee.

    The only additional charges you should incur using your debit card for purchases via PayPal are foreign-currency charges if the transaction is not in euro. And these can be avoided by using Revolut with PayPal instead.
